When the Portsmouth Pro Musica season was suspended in 2020 because of the pandemic, Priscilla picked one singer from each section to form a quartet that could continue making music. We rehearsed this much smaller group in socially distanced settings, including Portsmouth’s Foundry parking garage. And we found outdoor performance opportunities throughout that first season. One of our favorite gigs is performing in front of various art galleries at the Portsmouth Art Walk the first Fridays of the month. Originally called the Covid Quartet, the group adopted the name Sweetgrass Quartet in 2022, and it has continued to learn and perform new music even after the full chorus has resumed operations.
