Vivaldi’s Women

For those interested in Vivaldi’s 36 year career in Venice at the Ospedale della Pieta (girls’ orphanage-turned-conservatory), here is a wonderful one-hour documentary on the topic from the BBC.   And it explores the unresolved question of who sang the tenor/bass parts for his vocal music:   “Dixit Dominus” (a piece we performed in fall 2011) and “Magnificat” (which we are currently rehearsing).   Enjoy! psf
