Rehearsal Notes

OK! Time to get your scores and pencils out and TAKE NOTE! 🙂

There is nothing worse than hearing Priscilla repeat herself over and over again for something that you didn’t write down. We all need little reminder notes.

Oct. 30th
ANNOUNCEMENTS!!!
-Mark is looking for help setting up and tearing down the Wine tasting. 2:30-6:30. markwvr@aol.com email if you can help.
-Can’t help? Buy a ticket or tell your friends!! Forward the email blast. I just made a FB event for it via The Overtones NH page. Share it and get people to come!!
**2 Weeks notice on Ads for the program!! Get that stuff in!
-Friday Nov. 16th – Awesome concert at South Church – “Considering Matthew Shepherd” with an awesome choir. concert not to miss!

Poverty –
– WATCH THE PITCHES!! oh so flat________Get lots of air and use it! (Diana’s advice)
-Sop. bottom of pg 5 C# falls flat, lots of air!

Hallelujah
-Pg 4 – Alto bass – Observe the optional breath mark in measure 7
-Rejoice — “Ree Jawce”
-ah-leh-LOO-(yaw)

Chichester – 
Mvt. 1 & 2 – not much new for markings but these neem to be reviewed at least once or twice a week. Some sections were great while others fell flat..Don’t let all our good progress float out the window!
-Men – keep practicing your tongue twisters!! Especially the time change on pg 27. You got this!! 🙂
-I noticed some wrong pitches on page 9-10 at the Bo-u section. Basses and sometimes Sopranos…

Oct. 23rd – (It was a dark and stormy night…)
Al Hanissim –
-page 11 measure 127 – breath at the period

Bluegrass-
pg 30 breath after “Commands” and “Bear” and “Ah”
Pg. 31 – “Ease” turn the half note into a quarter note and breath on beat 2. Put the “Z” on beat 1 of that measure.

Oct. 16th –
Al Hanissim
-Men pg 6 breathmark at between measure 54-55
-Men pg 9 – this part is all in unison and the pitches are around a middle C so it’s high for basses.

BlueGrass Mass –
-Sopranos – Page 29 there is a typo on measure 118 – time sig. should be 2/2 not 2/4

-Pg 5 the refrain returns but it’s not quite the same – don’t get caught off guard!
-Basses – breath after Chanukah bottom of PG 5 and top of PG 6
-Altos – take care on pg 6

Chichester – starting on pg 19. ENERGIZE CONSONANTS!
-Starting on page 20 – note breath marks written in the score
-SOPRANOS Pg 21 – breath in measure 49 before u-mi-sh….
-ALTOS – breath measure 49 and 51 – NB bottom of page measure 53
-Page 21-22 – WATCH out for the h with a dot underneath – pronounced “ach” as in Bach

Oct. 2nd -(I left at break with a cold)

Al Hanissim
-Practice speaking the text – it’s Tricky!!
-Pg 1 “leggiero” means lightly
-Pg 1 – No breath between measure 20 & 21 – “hapurkan” NB “v’al”
-Pg 4 – BREATH in measure 24 – “hat’shuot” BREATH “v’al”
-Pg 4 – Men sing Legato
– pg 78 – EVERYONE sing only the big notes, no split sections

Gabriel’s Message
-REMINDER “the angel” = THEE angel
-“Favoured” – sing middle syllable OR
-pg 11 – Gloria – GL before the beat

Chichester
-pg. 11 et al – b’todah = “bee” to dah – Bright vowel here
– PG 17 – top of page is Mezzo Forte ‘mf’

Sept. 25th- 

Bluegrass Mass –
-Pg 21 Breath after 1st Glory Be,

-Pg 24 – “Set” the ‘T’ goes on the rest

-Hal-le-lu-jah “JAH” is tall and dark – stress on LU
-Ju-dah “DAH” is tall and dark
