PPM Members attend New England Choral Institute
New Hampshire Music Festival introduced the New England Choral Institute to the New Hampshire Music Festival. This educational institute brought together undergraduate, graduate, amateur and professional singers and conductors to experience Brahms’ “Ein deutsches Requiem” in a one week intensive residency at Plymouth State University.
Students took part in daily coaching and lessons, masterclasses, 7 hours of Alexander Technique, yoga, Requiem rehearsals, performance anxiety classes, and more; gaining experience and knowledge that they can now bring into their classrooms and daily singing practice. Thank you to the inaugural staff and students for participating in this successful program!
Portsmouth Pro Musica members who attended this inaugural session of the institute were Kaley Briden, Diana de Alvare, and Micky Lightfoot. They had a wonderful time and can’t wait to share what they learned with the chorus when rehearsals start in September.
We are looking forward to Choral Institute 2017 already! Stay tuned next spring for more information.
