Brahms non-pw
Here’s everything you need to practice the Requiem!!
I know it looks like a lot to practice but here’s some rehearsal tips!
- Priscilla usually picks a few movements to focus on each rehearsal. Give priority to just practicing those during the week.
- Practice the music with neutral sound, then practice speaking the German, then practice them together!
- Come up with a reliable way to marking tricky spots to rehearse.
- For example, I tend to put a big star in the corner of a page that needs attention and then I fold the corner of the page for later. Otherwise, I loose track of what part of the big score needs help!
- Bring a pencil to rehearsals and actually use it.
- Use IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) as much as possible.
- Here’s a brief introduction into what it is and why it’s useful! IPA for Newcomers
- IPAquickguide – IPA symbols and sounds in PDF form. I edited it a bit for our purposes.
Translation – Print this! Jot down the translation into your music when you get a chance. It’s good to have a copy of this in your folder as well.
