2017-2018 Concert Schedule
CHRISTMAS – Tickets Available HERE
Friday, December 8, 2017 – 7:30 PM St. Mary’s Church, Dover
Sunday December 10, 2017 – 3 PM North Church, Portsmouth
Our Christmas concert will be a collaboration with the Sandpipers – the Seacoast Children’s
Chorus. PPM and the Sandpipers will each sing their own seasonal selections, along with the featured joint
work, Benjamin Britten’s 1942 masterpiece A Ceremony of Carols with harp. During World War II, Britten
returned home to England from the U.S. via Nova Scotia. In a bookstore in Halifax, he found a book of
medieval poems which inspired the writing of a carol sequence, providing a seacoast and maritime
connection to this beautiful work.
SPRING
Saturday. April 7, 2018- 8pm Rye Congregational Church
Friday April 13, 2018 – 8pm Christ Church, Exeter
Sunday April 15, 2018- 3pm South Church, Portsmouth
In the Spring, PPM is thrilled to present one of the most beloved and performed choral masterworks
of all time, Johannes Brahms’ A German Requiem (1868), on the 150th anniversary of its premiere in Bremen,
Germany. Brahms’ work is not a liturgical Requiem; in fact, it has been called a “people’s requiem” or
“human requiem” and the overall message is one of comfort and hope – and that out of darkness and sorrow
comes optimism. A timeless message.
